Your adventure begins with a scenic flight from Queenstown to Franz Josef Airport, where you'll fly over the spectacular Southern Alps studded with over 3000 glistening glaciers. Upon arrival, you'll be run through a safety briefing before boarding the helicopter for a flight into a deep part of the glacier, passing over mystical icefalls and waterfalls to land at the upper Franz Josef icefall. Here, you will be fitted with crampons for your two-hour hike, exploring magnificent ice caves and experiencing firsthand the ever-changing wonders of this snowy landscape. Following your hike, you will return to the airport by helicopter to meet your plane for the return journey to Queenstown.
